Full Version: Can I do it?

Ok we had a baby in December and I've, needless to say, have been very busy. I've not trained very much at all. I can still run my 4-6 milers without any trouble. Cardiovascular wise I'm still in good shape. I always eat right and always hydrate. However not sure physically if I can get myself through the 21 miler.

Am I crazy to try? What's the worst that'll happen? I'll have to walk it?

Thoughts are appreciated.

Well if anyone is interested. I DID IT!

I was very pleased with myself that I was able to get through it. I felt it in the quads and calfs but felt a lot better after a few hours. My cardiovascular was right on target. I was a bit slower but completing the 21 miles was my only goal! And safely too!

I was feeling like I was going to skip the marathon but I think I'll try to get through that too.

Cheers,

David

CONGRATULATIONS DAVID!!!

That is awesome. Glad you tried. I was going to respond to you and suggest that you have nothing to lose by trying; you could always catch a ride back if you couldn't make it. But since I am new to this training program, I felt I wasn't the appropriate one to encourage or discourage you. You persevered and you accomplished the goal of the 21 miler.

Best of luck to you at the marathon.

Congrats David!! It feels great, doesn't it?! You're still in recovery mode so make sure you continue to hydrate and pay attention to your body.

See you on Marathon Day!

Thank you Kathi & Sharon I need that encouragement. I wasn't sure if I was going to try the marathon or not. But now that I've made the 21 miler I think I can get myself through the marathon too. tongue.gif

Best of luck to both of you too! I'm going to bring my daughter along with me on Saturday for our 7 miler. Say hi if you see us. We'll be in the yellow BOB jogger.

Cheers,

David & Riley
