blink.gif I was wondering how the gal was doing that took a horribly nasty fall on Leif on Saturday? We had heard her husband was coming to pick her up? Also, another fellow runner whose name is eluding me (camelback with bells on!) took a fall over a grate and had some nasty looking raw knees after doing so. Anyone hear how either of these ladies is doing?? unsure.gif

First, thanks to everyone who helped me!!! Special thanks to Dave and Doug (I think that's their names). The walnut on my forehead turned out not to be a concussion, although it gave me a shiner that would make my brother proud. The hands are pretty gouged and wrapped in bandages. My husband said that I have to start wearing my cycle helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads. I'm more concerned about making up my 11 mile run.

Monique,

I'm glad to hear you're ok! I could tell by that golf ball sized lump on your temple you were most likely going to wind up with a shiner! Did you eye swell shut yet?? tongue.gif Seriously, we have a great group of people out there and yes, I believe one of those nice fellas carrying you out of there was Doug! I didn't know for sure who the other one was, but thanks from me to them as well!

Im glad to hear you are ok. I gave up my water and kept going but was concerned that someone wouldnt get to you in time if you had a concussion. I have been very lucky and havent tripped this season (jinx) but after seeing how hurt you were, Im going to be running more cautiously from now on. Keep up the good work !!!!

Monique.....

Good to hear you are doing better. I, too was afraid of a concussion for you. I WAS glad to see you could talk lucidly even though you were in Pain. Bruce was on the other side of you as we went down Leif. Fortunately for you (and me) he has been trained in sports medicine and assisted athletes throughout his college career. I was sort of shocked as he checked out your knee (at first), but then it DID look so professional. He is experienced.

I also want to thank the nice runner that called your husband. We had many offers of help and many cell phones were also available to us. I know that Lisa carried your things down with us and that Mike (I'm never gonna run again, Mike) walked down and was ready to spell Bruce or me if we needed it. And, I know there were others that did the mile walk down to make sure you were taken care of.

This is another reason I run with PFit. The community and the help is superb!. All the way down Leif runners were pausing to be sure we had things under control and offered their help.

As for missing your 11 mile run, I wouldnt worry about it at all. Get your mid weeks on track and run as far as your body will let you. I suspect that without any serious sprains and with no concusion, you will be able to be back running soon.

You were very brave out there Monique... I hope to see you running again...and soon!

Glad to hear that you are okay too smile.gif! My husband always warns me that he is going to purchase knee pads, elbow pads, a helmet, and a life jacket (just in case I were to fall into the Willamette or a large puddle) for me to wear on my long runs... oh, and he also wants to get me one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" buttons smile.gif!

Be happy though that now you have a good fall out of the way before the marathon smile.gif!
