At Duniway park, Tuesday even. (6:00 p.m.;, 2nd session at 7:00 p.m.), I will time and record a cardiovascual test, for all who are interested, which will help you determine if your training is progressing in an effective/positive manner.
Walkers and runners are invited. You should have some means of monitoring your heart rate while you are running/walking (without stopping to manually take your heart rate) for the test to be truely effective.
(any old HR monitor will do, as long as it gives an accurate reading while you are walking or running).
Why?
The body has several metabolic systems it uses for movement, and several different types of fuel available during movement. Do you know which system you are training, or should be training?
Come to the track well rested, with a water bottle and your HR monitor. You will be asked to walk/run several mile repeats (with a rest/recovery in-between). You will NOT be running/walking at a maximum speed!).
The data we collect will provide you with observable/measureable numbers to show your current and future progress (if you test again in 4-6 weeks).
This test is provided FREE to PDX-Fit walkers/runners by PDX-fit coaches.
See you Tuesday even.

To everyone that completed a MAF test on July 25, 06:
It is time to complete your MAF test again. Come on down and see if your last 4 weeks of training have improved your pace! This Tuesday (8/22/06) it will be your choice of a MAF test or Interval workout at Duniway Park at 6 or 7 pm.
If you missed the MAF test in July and would like to complete the MAF test on Tuesday (8/22/06) , you just need to be ready to run 5 miles within your aerobic heart rate range and have a basic heart rate monitor. If you don't know your aerobic heart rate range, I will calculate it for you.
JR will be out of town, but I will be there to help with the test and loan out heart rate monitors.
If you need a heart rate monitor, please email me to reserve one ahead of time.
Eric
