I want to be ready mentally and physically for next Saturday's run. Should I follow the guide lines for running a marathon? I want to be ready. Any suggestions?

Hey Nico, I'm relatively new to this, but see that no one has responded to your query. I would say try to get plenty of sleep during the week, hydrate all week, not just the night before, eat a good diet with plenty of small meals rather than long stretches in between, don't forgo salt due to a healthy diet, and don't try anything new on the day of or immediately preceding the benchmark. Based on the experience of an, uh, friend, I can tell you that eating copious amounts of oatmeal cookie dough the night prior to a race is a very, very bad idea. ; )
