I'd love to go cheer on the Hood to Coasters when they come through Portland. Anyone know when they'll be through?

Is this something that people do (go to cheer them on in the middle of the race)?

Thanks!
Johanna
Early to mid afternoon is a great time to cheer on the runners coming through downtown. Leg 13 travels across the Hawthorne Bridge and North down Front Avenue. Lots of place to set up your cheering station!

SouthPAW... my team won't be crossing the Hawthorne bridge until 1AM or so SATURDAY.
There's a large VAN Exchange on the EASTSIDE under the bridge.... this will be congested but excited.
My guess would be park somewhere else and walk to that location to see the exchange etc. Just follow the crowds.
Be sure to stay out of the way... wear a PFIT shirt... people will recognize you and probably cheer for you because they're delirious.
Make a little PFIT sign. It'll be pretty popular.

Teams are starting bright and early on MT Hood Friday... possibly as late as 8pm for some of the faster teams.
There will be steady stream. More people are likely to be there later in the day. Simply because it takes about 6-11 hours to get there from the mountain depending on how fast your team runs.

There will be more people there because both VANs end up at this location. If you have some friends that are hoping to cheer for. Get their start time and expected time at this exchange.

It's fun to check out all of the vehicles and decorations w/ tongue-in-cheek names.
That's my advice

Awesome! Thank you for the info. My son and I will be taking the Max in so we'll just walk across the bridge. I know exactly the area you're talking about under the Hawthorne Bridge. I'll be sure to wear my P-Fit shirt and my 4-year-old will LOVE making a P-Fit sign. I don't know anyone specifically running but I thought you all could use some encouragement and I like to take my son to races to inspire him to be a runner!
