August is going to be a tough month to get in my training. Between the Relay for Life I do with my mom, and a vacation back east, I will miss three group runs in a row. I've been pondering one of my dilemmas and think I might have a solution.
I was thinking that I would run the 30K distance a week early at the Relay for Life on July 31, and then do the 10 mile run on Aug 8. I'm going to be going around and around a track anyway so I thought I'd squeeze in the distance. The following week, Aug 7, I fly to MA for my dad's birthday, and while I think I could easily squeeze in a 10 mile run or so, doing 18 just seems unreasonable. Especially since I would be either be wiped out at the party, or I would be killing myself to do it on Sunday. Also, it would be unsupported and lonely, not to mention hot and humid.
So, I guess my question is: is this a good alternative to missing the 30K? Swap the July 31 and Aug 8 workouts?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
