I seem to have developed Exercise Induced Asthma. So far its only come on after my 11 mile and after Helvetia. A few minutes after I stop running, I feel like I'm sucking air through a straw.

Anyone else have anything like this? I'm curious what you do for it and if prescription inhalers are a good solution.

Thanks!

I found out since starting training with PFit this year that I have it. I got a prescription for albuterol and haven't had any trouble since (as long as I remember to use it). rolleyes.gif I usually take a couple puffs before a long run and sometimes one or two in the middle. It's worked well for me. Definitely worth looking into!

So I doubt Mindie would mind since she mentioned it, but what I did was have her blow into a peak flow meter. If your resting lung volume capacity is low then I would write a Rx for albuterol that you take before long runs. Easy fix, now you maybe someone who has normal lung capacity, and your lungs just spasm during longer runs and in that case you may benefit from something as simple as high doses of magnesium (watch for loose stools though). Regardless you should be tested first.
Let me know if you have any other questions,

Thanks Lindsey. I got a quick apointment with my MD this morning and she gave me a prescription for albuterol. My lung capacity was normal and everything looked good. So far, I don't haven issues during my runs (or any other time for that matter). It seems to be once I get up in to the higher mileage that triggers the attack. Not really a big deal. I never went into panic mode and felt ok. At least now I have a solution if it comes up again.
