My shin pain cleared up only to have my hip flare and lower back flare up. The pain started on May 23rd and I haven't been able to run in nearly two weeks. I use the exercise bike and elliptical machine which are fine. Anyway, I saw my physical therapist about it last Tuesday (and I'll see her again this morning) and she figured out that it was my psoas muscle that's causing my problems. I've been doing the strengthening and stretching she wants. Sometimes the pain gets better for a few hours but mostly it's there constantly. I'd like to know if this is the kind of injury that chiropractic would be good for? How about a sports massage focusing on that area? I have Kaiser which can make it difficult to get a chiropractic referral so I guess I'd like to know if it would help before I jump through hoops with Kaiser. Does Clearwater accept Kaiser insurance?

Hi Chris_n

To answer your question, low back and hip pain is our specialty and we deal with psoas issues all of the time. I like that you find some relief with what the PT is doing for you. Continue to do so.

On a side note, I don't know of any DC's, outside of our clinic, who effectively combine full spinal adjusting AND the necessary soft tissue work......very often its one or the other.

Some deep tissue/sports massage would be a great idea....psoas work feels......odd, to say the least, but it is effective.

Clearwater does not take Kaiser, however we provide Kaiser patients a receipt to submit on their own accord.

Let us know how we can help.
