Hi reneeriner
Help me understand a bit more clearly the issue....did blisters actually form? Or does it just hurt under the big toe? Is is on both feet or just one? Which side?

Thanks

Dr. Greg

dr. greg,
blisters did not form. just hurt really bad like they were going to. it was both feet. but the right one more-so.
thanks

I'm not a medical person (and don't play one on TV) but I've also had issues with hot spots on the ball of my foot right behind the big toe when I get to about 10 miles. Initially, I thought I just needed new shoes, but had the same trouble with new ones at about the same distance.

I talked to Dave at the PR booth a couple weeks ago and bought inserts for my shoes on his recommendation. That seemed to solve my problem as I ended up with about 14 miles last weekend without any hot spots.

Sorry for the delay in this response sad.gif

So your shoes are over 3 months old now? That's getting close to time for a newer pair. Without actually being able to look at your feet, it sounds like the fat pad under your transverse arch is getting irritated. Shoes, with newer insoles, can help with this issue. Make sure the toe boxes of your shoes aren’t too loose.....or too tight for that matter.

This is probably a quick, easy fix. Take care of it quickly...you don't want your gait to get "wonky" due to running funny, as your body tries to avoid discomfort.

Keep us in the loop and tell us how things go.

Dr. Greg
