I've noticed that as my running distances get longer, the very tops of both of my legs (probably only the first 2-3" and only in the front) get really sore. I can't quite figure out how to stretch out that part of my legs, and the normal quad stretches don't seem to affect it at all. Is my running form to blame or is there something else wrong here? I'm a 5'5", 155lb. woman, if that helps.
Thanks!

SlowlyButSurely,
I think the area you are talking about is at the top of you quad just below the inguinal line, about where the top of a pocket would be. Please let me know if it is different. To stretch the top of the thigh you need a combination of opposing forces. Try a left leg forward kneeling lunge position with your right knee on a cushion, holding onto something for stabilization. While in that position, keep the right quad released and contract you abdominal muscles causing a pelvic tilt. The tilt will flatten the back and add pulling force to the front of the groin area and quad muscle. Holding time should be 60-90 seconds.
Please let me know how it goes and if that gets the area.
Cheers,
Dr. Bryan
