I purchased Superfeet inserts several weeks ago for both my running and my street shoes. My Chiropractor adjusted it and gave me 10 minutes of electolysis(?) the other day before the run. She taught me several stretches that are supposed to relieve Plantar Fasciitis and I've been doing them. I ran the 1/2 and felt great but that night when my foot stiffened up (which has become common when I rest) I had a burning sensation in the tendon down the midline of the arch. I woke up this morning with a severe limp because of the stiffness. The pain only lasts a few minutes until I move around a bit. I don't want to quit running, but I know these things can get pretty serious.
My question is how long do I give it to go away before I have to face that I can't run anymore? Does this thing heal or just get staved off?

Sardog,
How long have you had symptoms of pain in your feet? Are they both painful or is one worse than the other?
What are your height, weight, and age? Did your chiro adjust your feet and especially your heels? Is the pain in the arch or near the heel?

Keep doing your stretches especially after running, before bed, and first thing in the morning. Take a golf ball and freeze it. Use the frozen golf ball to ice massage the soles of your feet. Roll the ball under your foot with moderate pressure until you find a tender "trigger point" and step down with more weight until almost painful. Hold for 7-10 seconds and then roll around the bottom of the foot again to increase circulation. Repeat until you have found all of the trigger points.

Yes it will heal. Ultrasound is better than E-stim and combine works magic.
I hope this helps.

My symptoms started about 4 weeks into the program. I only have a problem in my left foot and it pretty much stays in the arch. My chiro adjusted the affected foot and heel. An interesting aside; yesterday she wanted to rule out a stress fracture so she sent me to the Chiropractic College for an x-ray. It turns out that my lateral left tarsal is broken in two and apparently has been for some years. That however, does not seem to be playing a part in my current situation.

Thanks for the stretching exercise.

Sardog,
If you can stop by the Clearwater tent on Sat and talk to one of the Docs. Let them check for a leg length difference. Are you wearing any inserts for arch support?
