Wow! Thank you so much! I thought of you when I was out there. It was a great day.

I posted a race report on my blog:

You can find all the details there.

You can bet we'll wear those shirts on Sunday.

I kept thinking to myself..."this is more fun than running 18 miles"!

I read your blog.....once again CONGRATULATIONS! AWESOME JOB!!
I can definitely agree with your statement that it's more fun than running 18 miles smile.gif
I'm definitely gonna do it again next year....in fact I have two that are in my radar....One in June and Vineman again if I get in...
I have all year to get over the swim panic thing and improve.....

Wish I was going to be there Sunday to see your shirts! But I've volunteered for the Portland Triathlon that morning....oh well, hope you wear them two weeks later smile.gif
Or post a picture!!!!
Way to go Tracy and Trevor!!!! You're awesome!!

BTW....is there a swimming group that P/V-fitters hang out with for group swims?? Any recommendations?? (I know...nothing like asking after the fact)

Pam - I'll probably wear that shirt every time I run for as long as I can...you will surely get a chance to see it!! It isn't anywhere near as cool as yours!!

Our swims are pretty much done for the season, but up until now we've been swimming at Klineline Pond up in Vancouver. We usually went on Tuesday and sometimes Wed nights. I believe that there is a group of the Portland Triathlon club that swims on Wed or Thurs nights. There are ALWAYS others up there after 7 pm (when the lifeguards go off duty) swimming. You can also swim laps inside the ropes before 7 pm (when the lifeguards are on duty). So its pretty safe.

Seems like every year someone from PFit/VFit is training for a triathlon, so watch these boards for people and their schedules and you can hook up with someone at the times they are there.

Hope that helps!

have a great time at the Portland Tri! See you in a few weeks!

Sorry to put a damper on things, but Klineline has been closed to swimming due to Ecoli according to the Columbian this morning.

While I haven't been out swimming this year (taking a break from Tri), in the past Portland Tri Club meet on Wednesday night and the Gecko Tri Club meet on Thursday night at Klineline. There are usually some big tri crowds out there early in the season and before Pacific Crest.

Alternatively, I've done some open water swimming at Hagg Lake. There is a cove area that the boats don't usually venture into.

Klineline & Hagg are my typical locations although other considerations might be Vancouver Lake and Merwin Lake. I don't know about Blue Lake, I've heard about police issuing tickets or something if you venture out?

Best thing to do is figure out your plan and post ahead of time on one of the forums. I don't think I've ever had a problem getting someone to come out and enjoy the water!

In the past, Pfit and Vfit had an informal tri group that would meet and share training plans, events, stories, etc. I really enjoyed attending the events and seeing a bunch of familiar faces.....lots 'o fun. Group bike rides and swims were the norm.

I just think this has been a down year for a number of folks.
