Dear Mono,
Mono inflames your liver and, more importantly, your spleen. The goal is to rest, recover, and avoid any chance of rupturing your spleen. If you have strictly mono, you'll need to rest, hydrate, rest, eat, rest, light movement exercise, and rest. Your physician will want to schedule a follow up and check your progress. Only then, with your Dr's consent, should you resume training. Don't be afraid to ask your Dr. question.
Unless you have other illnesses not associated with mono, you should not be placed on any medications (anti-biotics). Over the counter Tylenol is ok for head ache or fever.
Let me define light movement exercise = walking without the intent of training for something. Light weight training without the intent of gaining weight or strength. Running is out for a small while.
Mono simply takes time.
Keep us in the loop as to your progress.
Dr. Greg

I was just diagnosed with Mono today. How does mono fit in to training? Am I out for the count? When will I know I can run again?
Thanks.
