Sorry to hear about your troubles. From what you are describing here.....and me not actually being able to evaluate your foot, it sounds like your anterior and lateral compartments of your lower legs are really tight. This causes a "pulling" on a bone in the foot called the cuboid. The cuboid articulates with the bases of metatarsals 4 and 5. When you stand, your weight displaces in your foot laterally and the result is a sharp pain on the lateral aspect of the foot.
Use your massage stick to work the anterolateral and lateral aspect of your lower leg (between your knee and ankle) Often the cuboid is "dropped" and the fibular head is diplaced posteriorly. Us manual Docs love to adjust these areas....if fact, when runners come to see us, we adjust these areas regularly to help them avoid this issue.
I recommend icing the area of pain regularly.
If you do not get relief in the next day or so.....stop by the clinic or worst case, the tables on Saturday.

Hello~
After my 25k last week, I felt fine and had the usual stiffness in my legs. Later that afternoon, I started having a sharp pain on the outside of my right foot and on the outer top of my foot when standing and walking. The pain is bad enough to cause a limp. I went to the doctor and there was no stress fracture and she recommended rest, ice, and Aleve. A week has passed, and I have followed instructions and they pain has not subsided, it comes back just after walking a block. I am feeling anxiety and frustrated that my training is on hold. I also purchased a massage stick and have been rolling my foot on it, sometimes I feel like there is a little knot in my foot when I do this. Do you have any other recommendations or ideas on what this injury could be? I would like to get back on track ASAP!
THANKS
