AC Tony
Looking for running partners to hold you accountable?
Chances are there are plenty of people in your area close to you pace (close enough).

The Tricky part is connecting up and finding a time and place that works.

HERE'S WHAT I SUGGEST:
Search by area first: Tigard, Beaverton, Lake Oswego area PFIT Runners.
*Be careful about posting personal information that could make you easy target for abduction*

MAKE A SIGN. Hold on a stick high up so people see, take it to Saturday Run.
Show of hands who wants to run:
Monday (AM, noon, PM) Purples:____ Reds ____ Yellows ____ Greens ____ Blues ____
Tuesday ( am, noon, pm)
Wednesday (am, noon, pm)
Thursday (am, noon, pm)
Friday (am, noon, pm)
Other ????

Fill in number of people able to attend for time slots.
Determine location of place to meet.
(Should be relatively convenient, easy to find, meet, run, several route options, bathroom)

Decide who's in charge of that group. Exchange Emails, phone #.
"Reminder Running tomorrow...set your gear out...bring water could be hot...see you there bring a friend"
A large group of runners I train with aren't in Portland Fit...but should be. =)

JUST HAVE GOAL TO MEET 1 x week. THat will be anchor run.
Then if you like. Establish another anchor run.
Portland Running Company is really good at having group runs.

I run on Saturday and Tuesday.
It's up to me to find the time to squeeze in those other runs.
If I have a group on Monday and Thursday that I know I can attend....It's great.
Even if I don't always go or attendance is low. (group of 1). Just keep doing it.
Keep inviting people. They'll come.
I don't have kids but if you do. Give them a bike and load up water bottles. They can be team water jockey.

Pace doesn't matter. I'll run slower if group is slower. I'll try to speed up if group is really fast.
We won't be side by side whole time but just knowing we're doing same thing is nice. Course can be altered so that there's plenty of running together.

Runners don't have to be in PFIT but it helps.

THIS IS A HOW TO START A RUNNING GROUP IN YOUR AREA.
Other things you can do. Ask about Track Tuesdays at various tracks (Duniway, WEst Linn)
Other running groups (8am West Linn PRC. other running stores, groups).

If you are indifferent about switching your routine and running earlier.... but already run. Consider running w/ a group even if you non-talker, loner. You might be significantly helping others just by being there and showing up on regular basis.

PM me if you have questions.
Coach Celia
Safety is our # 1 priority in USA Fit.

For the protection of our female members (we do care for the male members to) I am closing the discussion on groups meeting during the week. Please read the posting above in the General Forum titled "Forum Safety" http://www.portlandfit.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2690

AC Tony has a great suggestion and I encourage everyone to use this process moving forward. You can exchange e-mail addresses and phone numbers, get to know each other on-site so you know who to look for without giving a description of yourself on the board which makes you a target to be a victim. Like Coach Doug says, Train Smart, Train Safe and Live to Brag about it!

RED RUNNERS IN TIGARD, BEAVERTON, LAKE OSWEGO AREA PFIT RUNNERS
(note, please be cautious about posting information on the web many people read this that aren't members)

Here's what I suggest:

Someone Make a sign and take it to Saturday workout. "TIGARD Area REDS" Tape it to a stick and hold it up before and after we run Saturday.
GOAL determine Time Place and 1 day a week that you can run.
This could be 6am Group before work from Freddy's Monday
6pm group at Starbucks on corner of 99w and Durham. Thursday
6pm Monday at PRC Scholls

Whatever most people can commit to for rest of training program barring occasional absence.

BONUS...people can show up to these runs when they're not part of the regular group.
People from the group can meet regularly and try to schedule Extra run during the week.

FYI, kids are great "coaches" and 'domestiques' if they have a bike. They can carry water bottles and go with you if bike friendly.

I would be happy to run with you on occasion if it is in the Tigard area. Even if I'm a "Green" running at a slower pace w/ people is better than NOT Running at all which is often my trap.

I know of about 25 other people in the area that are also in Portland Fit or just runners that would also consider running with also.
