A huge Thank You to all of you who "pushed" me along. I'm still beside myself as I think about what a fun day it was. Truly saw many moments of realizing where proper training can get you, and the fact that the training was the hard part while the race was the fun part.

Sad to say that my wireless connection is less than ideal, but I'll make sure to catch up with all of you real soon.

Thanks again for "Bringing Me In!!"

A glowing Ironman Hug to all.

Doug

Watching Doug put in all the time. training and effort this last year - I knew he was ready. In Florida he looked so good, so comfortable, smiling, right up to the turn for the last loop of the run. He did great. I'm so proud of him and happy to have been able to be a part of it all (even though I missed the finish........).
You're the best,
~Melissa

Can't wait for Canada 2010!
RunDougRun
You didn't miss the finish, as much as you made the finish what it was. You were out there within that last mile, where I needed you most, giving me a huge spark of enthusiasm and motivation to finish strong. Surprised to see you there? Yes! Just what I needed? Absolutely!! biggrin.gif

As some of you know, the road to Ironman can be a rough one. Family time suffers, commitments get delayed and training takes over. It takes such a huge effort on the part of the family to get behind the athlete and see them to the starting line. I'm very fortunate to have my family in my corner to take care of all of the details that constitute daily life. Melissa was constantly a solid, motivating and encouraging force in my training and racing this year. I knew in those last few weeks, she was as ready for the race as I was.

As the writing on our rental car stated..."The Best Support Crew Any Guy Could Ask For!!"

So True!

Congratulations Doug on becoming an IRONMAN!

That is incredible! And you are very lucky to have the support of your wonderful wife, Melissa. Way to go Melissa!!!

What a Day Doug, what a day. Congrats Man!! Now it's time to sit back and relish in the glory achieved. I get chills just thinking about what a great day it must have been. How all of the sacrifice and commitment came to fruition; and the thrill of the day. You most certainly had a great support crew. Can't wait for the details.
