Thursday Marion and I were out trail running and I rolled my ankle BAD coming down a hill, popped and everything, my entire ankle has been swollen since, and last night I was not sure if I was going to make it out or not. I went out for a very quick jog last night, just to see how my foot would do in the shoe, and it hurt, but it wasn't enough for me to not try, so I said whatever and got up this morning and headed towards Blue Lake.
I think they need to work on some traffic management to get people in and parked better, and I also think they need to pack the cars in better so the transition area can be slightly larger and easier to access, but other than that it was a well put on event.
The swim was good, the water was a little cold, and my arms and shoulders hurt by the end of the swim, but it wasn't too hard to navigate through the slower swimmers and only once was there wake big enough to cause me to swallow water. Getting out of the water I really noticed my ankle but, again, just kept moving. In the transition I realized that I really need a one piece tri suit, trying to pull my jersey on while i was wet proved to be difficult, it rolled up, hung up on my hrm strap, and was generally just a pain in the ass.. once on the bike however it was smooth sailing, the course is extremely flat, some strange winds were blowing, the first 3 miles the wind was with, the next against, and then the same as it was out and back, but there were no real direction changes, so the wind was strange. It wasn't strong enough to really affect my speed and I managed to carry an average of 19+mph. The run was the most difficult, my ankle wasn't happy with me and I haven't been running enough on top of that. I did my best to ignore it and ran the entire way, only making a quick stop on the pavement when I tripped over a ripple and scraped up my knee.
I finished somewhere around a 1:24, I'll have to check the results when they are up.
looking forward to hagg olympic distance...
