Randy Wells
Well the Tri season is upon us and I want to invite anyone and everyone to do an OWS at Klineline April 30. I know, your all thinking "what the hell is he thinking?!? It's not even May, the water is cold and who knows what might be under the water" blink.gif The plan right now is to do 1 lap and then go have pie, coffee, etc etc.
I'll get a time set as people tell me what will work best for them.
Just think, no crowds or waiting for the Lifeguards to go off duty. Just a nice leisurely swim with your Tri family!

(quoting Doug).....Come on, it'll be fun! wink.gif
Randy
Honeybee
Alright, Randy. I'm a solid 'maybe'. I might have my new tri suit by that time and can break it in. 'Till then I'll focus on thinking warm thoughts. cool.gif

Whatever it is, will definitely be bigger by the time April rolls around! I guarantee it!!

And yes, it'll be fun!...as soon as the uncontrollable shivering stops... biggrin.gif

Now Doug, don't go scaring the kids with tales of that Thing in the water again laugh.gif It didn't bite!
So I'll take your response as a "I'll be there!"
Randy
JR-Yellow coach
Randy,
Congrad's on your new head coach status! Does that mean you will be buying all the pie and coffee? Until it gets alittle warmer, I think I'll just wait for you at the "Pie Haus."
JR
RunDougRun
I'll be there, since JR says you're buying! biggrin.gif

WHOA!! Hold On Just A Minute!!

Yesterday's Clark County newspaper, the Columbian has your "Favorite Pie-Hole" listed in its Restaurant Health Inspection report for the week. It seems as though they might have a few sanitation issues!?!

The restaurant was listed at 75 points worth of violations. 100 points means Closure by the health department. Now, 25 points total is probably no big deal, right? But when you're only 25 points away from being shut down, that my friends is kinda scary.

And you thought Klineline water was bad... huh.gif
AC Randy
Hmmm, can you say Marie Callendar's take out.....

laugh.gif Absolutely!!

And...check it out. I was able to add the Green Pukie Man to my original post. Very Appropriate.
AC Angela (VFit Purple)
What restaurant are you talking about Doug? The only one I see mentioned is Pie Haus - I'm not sure where that is...
Sharon
Brrrr!!! Seriously, Randy? I'm not sure I'm ready to get wet yet. But I'll come and cheer you guys on from the beach and then go eat pie!

Peach Tree, M'Dear!

Bonnie
I'll be there - who's bringing the portable hot tub to warm us up after?

Even if your "not ready" to go for a swim I hope you can come Sharon! mmmm....pie biggrin.gif
AC Marion
Okay group, I bet you thought I bought that pretty bike and was simply pimping bike born...that'd I'd never actually get around to riding it or doing a tri huh!?!?! smile.gif Well, I did cycle for 24 miles ( I know I know, I have a ways to go!) this past weekend because I pulled a calf muscle and couldn't complete my 24 mile training run. sad.gif Cycling was the next best option. Anyhow, the Eugene Marathon is May 4th and I'm hoping with the help of Clearwater I'll be at the start line AND will make it to the finish line in under 3:40 ( I think I can, I think I can - it's going to be close!). BUT after May 4th, it's time to get started on this tri thing! smile.gif

That being said, would this April 30th OWS be something a newbie could/should do? Will you rescue me if I'm drowning?!?! The swim is certainly going to be my worst event! Any ideas on where I could pick up a good wetsuit for minimal investment? I've been spending all my cash (aka credit card!!! smile.gif) at Clearwater for the last couple months! smile.gif

Marion
RunDougRun
Marion,
The best place to get a wetsuit (rent one) is out at All Tri Sport on Halsey, next to Gateway Bikes. If they kept the pricing the same, I believe it's $35/week. They are great folks to work with and have a good selection of used suits too.

Hi Marion! I really hope that you can join us for the OWS.
#1 rule to OWS.... DROWNING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Nothing to worry about. We will all swim together as a group.
Yes this is something that you should/could do! It will be your baptism into the tri world wink.gif Randy Peene threw me into Klineline swam with me last year for my first OWS and we had a fantastic time. Let's hope for a sunny day and that Doug will wear his bright pink swim cap! laugh.gif Seriously. When you go to get your wetsuit, pick up a bright colored swim cap. It helps your fellow swimmers see where you are in the water.

The flowered cap will slow you down with the added drag. Go with the other one! tongue.gif

If we can get someone to watch the little one, I am pretty sure I will be there with Marion... maybe with some floaties attached to my arms!!

If it's not too cold, bring her out. I'm probably going to bring my kids if it's not too icky.
Randy Wells
I CAN'T WAIT TO GET INTO THE OPEN WATER!!!!!!! Sick of chlorine......... tongue.gif
67 days to go..........
Randy
Bonnie
Can we get a water temp check in anticipation of our swim kick off next week?

Am I going to get hypothermic? wink.gif
Honeybee
Seems to me Angela might know how to get that information. I tried the parks and recreation site looking for a link to the group that does the water tests but came up empty handed. Randy? Angela?

I will personaly go down to Klineline this Thursday and check the tempature. Now know that it won't be as accurate as it can be but it will be a good guidline for us. smile.gif
Trust me....if it is too cold then we will just meet for pie!
Randy

Marion,
I got my wetsuit at All Tri Sport. I bought a BlueSeventy Reaction suit. Sharon has the same one. I think mine is a little bigger. rolleyes.gif Full length arms. Oh yeah Randy. Mine has arms. 53 degrees. Brrr. blink.gif Now I need the noeprene hat, booties, gloves, who's got a neoprene face mask. Anyone.... I digress. The rental is a good start. All Tri Sport is a good place.

mmmm ....... pie ......
