Sarah,
It is possible you are over doing it, I would recommend having it checked since the primary problem is only at the surgical site. Most of the time there are other body areas involved which compound the main problem but do not have significant pain associated with them. These areas usually feel ‘not right’ and much less of an issue that the knee, but are important to address as well.
If you had good rehab and conditioning locally that would be the best place to have your knee and biomechanics checked. In the mean time, what was the injury that caused the tear and how long ago was the surgery. Also, did you rehab your knee back to a full pre injury status? If you had PT do you still have the exercises that were performed? I’ll look for your reply and get back to you ASAP.
Cheers,
Dr. Bryan
Hi Dr. Bryan,
I tore my ACL playing ultimate frisbee in 2000, I was cutting to get open for a pass. I did rehab my knee back to full pre-injury status and I have had great success with it up until this point. I saw an orthopedic surgeon last week and he said that it all looked good and that I most likely over did it, as you said. My 11 mile run went really well, so that makes me hopeful. I just wonder if I will need to be diligent about icing and just watching my knee.
Thank you for your help or suggestions.
Sarah
