John
Our 2nd benchmark event will be on Saturday, July 14th at Con-Way (CNF). We will not be meeting on Sunday, July 15th at Beaches in Vancouver.

25K Benchmark (15.5 miles)
Con-way
NW 21st & NW Raleigh
(Portland Fit's usual homebase)

Runners: 7:00 am
Walkers: 6:00 am

Maps will be provided, but the basic idea of the course (subject to change on Saturday) will be to go to the waterfront, over the Steele Bridge, south along the esplanade on the east side, past OMSI to the Springwater Corridor and continuing south. Over the Sellwood Bridge and back North along the river into Willamette Park. We wil do one loop inside the park (something like into park to guard shack, turn around to go south again toward tennis courts and soccer field, then loop back north and continue out of park, up path toward Old Spaghetti Factory, through new South Waterfront, along waterfront toward Steele, and then continue home.

There will be aid stations out on the course (thank you sponsors!). Use these aid stations to refill your water bottles with water and gleukos! Everyone must carry a water bottle!!!

If you can't attend on Saturday, a thread has started regarding an alternate Sunday plan. Click here to visit the alternate plan thread.

When we do these longer runs and walks, it's imperative that you carry your own hydration source and that you drink more than just water. You need to replenish carbs and electrolytes -- use Gleukos, gels, snacks.... whatever it takes to get you through these long days.

Aid Stations will also be able to contact homebase if you have an issue where you need assistance.

Good luck and have fun. But be safe and take care of yourself! If it's a hot day, slow down and drink plenty of liquids.

Stay fit,
John & Celia

Hi

I was hoping to start a bit earlier than 6 as I am a pretty slow walker. But I'm not having much luck finding a route map for it. I don't live in Portland so I need pretty specific instructions, though your overview was helpful. Could anyone point me to where I find the route map on this site? (sorry if I'm just being really blind and not seeing it)

Thanks

RDH:

You will find the route map at www.StressThenRest.com.

Click here for PDF of CNF 25K Route02B

As always, the routes are subject to change on the morning of the run/walk. As of last weekend, this route map was valid.

Have a great benchmark run.

RDH,
If you are planning to start earlier than 6AM, the route maps will not be available till 6AM. Our first water station which will be located at the end of Oaks Park will not be set up until 7:30AM as well as the one located in Willamette Park. I hope you are able to print out the map by the link provided and will be carrying a hydration system with you.
See you when you finish...we'll be waiting for you smile.gif
Be safe and have fun!
