Red Coaches,

My wife is due Saturday and there is a good chance I will not get my run in this weekend. I was shocked when she told me they scheduled the potential c-section for 9:30am as that did not allow much time for my 12 miles and time to shower...they couldn't push out to a later time, so I am stuck:)

At this point, I am just trying to get all my week day runs in, but need some advice on how to stay on top of training. My initial thought is to try and run even daily for 30-45 minutes as time allows to avoid losing any of my past gains.

Any recommendations?

Hi Jeff,

Can you do the run tomorrow? I can't imagine Sunday will be a good option. You could rest today and run tomorrow. I'm thinking from here on out your running schedule is going to have to be very flexible. And don't stress about it, just get out there when you can and if you miss a day, all is not lost, but the days of watching your baby grow will be.

Congrats on the new arrival, or very soon to be, that is!!

Jeff,
Maybe you could take your wife for a couple mile walk Friday evening..., nothing facilitates a delivery like alittle "road-work."
That said, you have made the right decision in skipping the run for the birth of your child. That event is something you will remember for the rest of your life. You can run 12 miles on the way home from the hospital, handing out cigars, and blowing an air-horn!
Best wishes to you and your wife. Running is great. New babies are a marvelous wonderment. (by the way..., this will not be the first run you miss because of the baby blink.gif .

Never a truer word spoken JR.

Jeff - enjoy this and don't let running interfere with spending time with your new baby. You can't recapture moments lost or an opportunity to marvel at this wonderful child you helped to create. I still tell myself that when my baby girl wants to do something like hang out with her momma. And she's 22 years old. biggrin.gif

Congratulations!!

Congratulations!!! Don't worry, it's just one run...and what JR said about missing plenty of runs for your kids is SOOOO true! Get yourself a good jogging stroller and enjoy sharing your active life with your new little one. There's nothing better! ...mol
