If you listen to podcasts, peruse online running communities or take part in swapping virtual run routes then this might be of interest to you.
I've enjoyed listening to the Phedippidations podcast on long runs for well over a year now. Last year, the host and a few of his more ardent listeners put together a virtual half marathon, totally free, but more important, just for fun, to know that you and several hundred of your new running friends around the world were running the same distance. The World Wide Half Marathon v2 is in October, and if you plan on running the Portland Marathon, it counts (the first half anyways). I ran Black Diamond in Enumclaw, WA last year and used that for my WWHM time. It was great to hear all the stories of people running their half marys around the world, so if that sounds interesting pop on over to the WWHM website and check it out!
If that doesn't sound interesting, but you know of a cool podcast to check out for long runs drop a note on this thread. For all those multisport athletes, I've always enjoyed Simply Stu, a triathlete podcast.
