Joining Portland Fit as a paid-member allows you to join us for our training runs and walks on Saturday and Sunday mornings during our training season. It also gives you access to our coaching staff and all the other benefits of the program. Registering on the Portland Fit discussion forum is a separate task and does not happen automatically when you join Portland Fit.

Most of this website and discussion forum is accessible to non-web-registered guests. However you must be registered with a username/password to create posts or replies. You also must be logged-in to see some things on our site, like the Seminar information -- including video of our kick-off presentation!

Registering in the Forum
To register on this website, click REGISTER in the Discussion Forum (or click here). You must agree to the terms of the forum, and then you can create a username, displayname (what is shown to all users), and a valid email address. The email address must be confirmed via an email..

Validating Your Email Address
If you do not receive an email validating your email address, you are not yet Registered. Once you receive the email, click the link to validate your account. If you do not click the link in the email, you are not yet registered. This feature has been implemented to cut down on the number of spammers that frequent our site. However, some email accounts like hotmail or yahoo may filter our email validation. You may either register with another email address or send an email to john@portlandfit.com for help. John can manually authorize your account if your validation email was lost or filtered. If you send an email, please list the emailaddress you registered with, approximate time of registration, and your chosen username.

Posting on the Site
Your first post must be approved by the moderation team. You are free to post after authorization, but your post will be queued for moderation and invisible to the community until one of our moderators has approved it. This is another defense mechanism against the spammers. Most of the posts are authorized on the same day (sometimes within hours or minutes). We appreciate your patience. Once your first post is approved, you may post freely without moderation. However we do reserve the right to edit/move/delete posts as required. We don't do that very often, however.
