Where Ya Going?  Let’s go to Leif!

Runners World describes Forest Park as “The largest wooded city park in the U.S., an idyllic shaded urban retreat that covers 5,000 acres just minutes from the city’s trendy Pearl District”.  Let’s explore a little bit of Forest Park on this weeks 14 miles ending with on the Leif Erikson Trail.

Turn Right coming out of Zidell, stay on Moody thru Riverplace.  Continue on the waterfront path thru downtown.  Stay to the right to cross the railroad tracks right past the Steele Bridge and continue on the water front thru the condominiums.  You’ll exit the waterfront path just after the Broadway Bridge.  The end of this section of the trail drops you on 9th Street where you’ll bear Right onto Overton.  Cut through the Fields Park on your Right coming out on 11th Street.  Left on Quimby, Right on 13th and another quick Left on Raleigh.  Continue on Raleigh all the way to Wallace Park on 26th Street.  Turn Right on 26th and then Left on Thurman.  Stay on Thurman all the way until it ends at the Leif Erikson Trailhead.  For this week’s 14 miles we’ll go to the 1 3/4 mile post and then turn around and head back the same way.

10&< Club (10 & Under Club).   If you go just a little over 10 (say 10 ½) you’ll turn around at the Leif Erikson Trailhead.  For 8ish miles, turn around at Wallace Park.  The 6 mile turn around spot is when you exit the water front trail close to 9th Street.
