Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegas

A frequent question we hear after we finish our season is “What’s next?” A lot of folks want to capitalize on this fitness and run or walk another marathon. If you’re looking for a marathon that’s not only fulfilling, but also entertaining, you may want to travel to Las Vegas for their annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.

Vegas has long since been a hotspot for entertainment, not just in the country, but also all over the world. Although considered the Gambling Capital of the World, people also travel to Vegas for world-class entertainment and performances by some of today’s biggest stars. But Vegas is facing some stiff competition in both fields. Since the launch of InterCasino in 1996, online gambling has continued to present a challenge to the land-based casinos of Vegas, especially since online gambling has been made legal in the state of Nevada. The continued development of Macau has also brought forth an even bigger problem for Vegas, as Macau endeavors to become the new Gambling Capital of the World. Because of this, Vegas has seen it fit to provide a new brand of entertainment to its visitors and locals – the likes of which can only be seen in Sin City.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon is an annual event that takes place in November. This year’s race takes place from the 14th-16th of November on the Las Vegas Strip. There are four different races that you can choose to participate in: the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Zappos.com ½ of the Half, and the 5K Presented by SLS Las Vegas. Many of these races are close to selling out, mainly because of the great perks that come with registering for the race:
• Run a scenic course that highlights Las Vegas’ famous sites
• Experience great entertainment from live bands as you run past them
• Free admission to the Roca Patron Start Line Festival, and
• Free admission to the 2 Day Health & Fitness Expo

That’s right, in true Vegas fashion, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is a full-fledged festival, complete with a pre-race concert featuring Snoop Dogg. There are also post-race parties in some of Vegas’s most famous clubs every night, where all runners have complimentary access. Friday night sees runners partying in the Venetian, Saturday has them living large in the Palazzo, and Sunday gets them free VIP access with sponsored drinks at the MGM Grand.

Let’s not forget that there will also be a 2-day Health and Fitness Expo, where over 100 exhibitors will be giving away free samples, and showcasing the latest innovations in running wear, technology, and health and nutritional supplements for runners. And did we mention that the race is being held for the benefit of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America? The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Las Vegas is certainly a premier destination for those serious about running.
