First Day

We had a great first day last Saturday. Over 300 people took the first step and began their journey. And there is still time for you to join us!

The first thing we ask the group is this: “Would all the slow people raise their hand?” At least half raised their hand high and proud. It’s not about winning the Portland Marathon. We’re here to support each other and get fit in a safe and supportive environment.

If you joined us on Saturday….

  • Congratulations! You took the first step and that was the hardest. You can run or walk with us the rest of the way.
  • Follow the training schedule this week. It looks like we’re busy on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday this week.
  • Take the OFF days as Rest Days!
  • Come back out next Saturday. And bring a friend!

It’s not too late to join!
If you couldn’t make it out last Saturday, our registration period lasts a few weeks, so it’s not too late to join. Plus if you recruit your friends you could win a prize! As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers.

If you do decide to join, the first thing to do is start following our training schedule now. Don’t wait until a Saturday to start. Just follow the Red schedule (all color groups are similar in the beginning) and then talk to a assistant coach the first Saturday you arrive and tell them it’s your first day. Assistant Coaches are those friendly folks in red Portland Fit hats.

    1. Sign up online.
    2. Start following the schedule now!
    3. Come out the first Saturday you can.
    4. Find an Assistant Coach and tell them “it’s my first day.”

My favorite web comment this week comes from Michele:

“So, I was the cranky-pie from SE Portland who was going to quit. Folks, I have to confess Portland Fit is the ONLY awesome organization in the area who trains like this and has a strong walking group. AND it only took an additional 15 minutes to get there from my house!

So, join eastside people! Or join Vancouver. This is the place to be!”
