Next Up: Helvetia Half Marathon

I hope you are all joining me in setting your sights on one of the most popular races in the Northwest, the Helvetia Half Marathon. This race has been a staple on the Portland Fit training calendar for years. Are you in?

Those of us that participated in the Rock’n’Roll Marathon are now in the enviable position of being able to coast toward the next race on the calendar — Green Coach Paula’s Helvetia Half Marathon. She puts on a great event at the Hillsboro Stadium and it’s definitely worth checking it out. Plus, we’ve already put in the work, so shouldn’t we maximize the number of events we do while we are in Half Marathon shape?!

For those of us that didn’t do the RnR event, we’re closing in on our goal of being ready to finish 13.1 miles. I ran my first half in a few years and it feels great to be able to knock out a half marathon on any given weekend. I may do them all summer. So stay on schedule and you’ll soon be able to get your first half marathon of the season under your belt. Then you can look for the next one. It’s actually kind of fun to be sitting in your office on a Wednesday and see a half marathon somewhere nearby scheduled for that weekend and say to yourself, “yeah, I could do that. Nothing else planned for the weekend.” It happens. And it’s awesome.
